We at Sciolto Monuments are here to assist you in selecting a suitable memorial for your loved one, working within your budget to create a meaningful design that meets cemetery regulations.
The first thing we’ll need to know is where your stone will be erected. All cemeteries have different size and design rules, which is determined by how many spaces are in your lot. (Due to the fact that regulations change over the years, we cannot go by “what is already there” but must go by current rules at the time your monument is ordered.)
Once we’ve determined the maximum size, we’ll be able to show you a range of stones from that size down, explaining the costs of each to ensure we find something in your budget.
Our flat markers include a standard carved design of your choice and the name & dates of the deceased at no extra charge.
Our upright monuments include the base, standard carved design of your choice, large family name on the front and the first name & dates on the back. (Extra lettering in the same order will be at a discounted rate.)
Flat or slanted markers must be paid in full at time of order and most upright stones require a 50% deposit with the balance due upon completion of the monument.
Hand carved designs are available at an extra charge (usually beginning at $900) and will be priced individually based on intricacy and size.
Etchings—recommended only for black stones—start at $400 for a photo up to 5×7, and $600 and up for stone-sized designs (such as saints or a lighthouse). Please note, some cemeteries don’t allow etched designs.
There are no hidden fees and we’ll never try to sell you something you don’t want. We are a family business, with no salespeople trying to make commissions by selling you the most expensive monument possible.
After your order is placed, and before we do any work on your monument, we’ll do a computer layout to show you exactly how it will appear once carved. (This usually takes approximately two weeks from the date of order.)
No carving is done until we have your signed approval that everything in the layout is correct. Design changes after approval are usually not possible, so we ask you to be certain before giving us your signed proof sheet.
Most flat markers are ready for delivery in 8–10 weeks from the order date. This process may be slowed due to weather conditions, cemetery approval of design, or time it takes for us to receive your signed approval.
Most upright monuments are ready for delivery 10–14 weeks from ordering. This may take longer due to delays with cemetery approval, receiving a signed proof, arrival of granite, and cemetery foundation pouring.
Please note, additional time is required for exotic granites such as blue or emerald pearle, dakota mahogany, red multicolor, evergreen, etc.
Average time on exotic granite orders is 18 weeks from order date to delivery. During the winter, many of our suppliers can’t ship granite due to the weather, so special orders placed in the fall can’t be ready until spring.
Winter is still a perfect time to order a monument though; by ordering in the winter, we can give you quick service in the spring since your stone arrives in the first container of the season, beating the April/May rush.
